My name is Claudia Engelen, and I am a self-taught artist and illustrator living in the Ruhr Area/Germany.
I've been drawing since I could hold a pencil, however, my career as an artist began in 2002 when I published my first cover artwork for a children's book. Some thousand artworks followed over the years and I have always enjoyed illustrating for young readers.
However, two years ago I decided to try something new and started designing patterns for packaging, wrapping, fabrics and wallpapers. And I really love this new challenge too.

I love to combine hand-drawn elements and classical layouts for magazines.
My illustration are inspired by nature, animals, food and home decor.
Young
Readers
I still enjoy illustrating for young readers and did some meters of books over the past 15 years.
I love to give personality to each character - sometimes with a good touch of humor - always with lots of love for the pretty little details.
Pattern
Design
As a side project first I started making pretty surface pattern from my illustrations. Which now has become a major part of my everyday artwork.
My pattern are used for fabrics, home decor, packaging, stationery goods, wrapping paper and wallpapers.
